Gambar Satelit Menunjukkan Dampak Tsunami di Palu

Beberapa hari setelah gempa bumi dan kemudian gelombang tsunami yang mengghantam kawasan Sulawesi Tengah, diantaranya ibukota Palu, gambar dari satelit menunjukkan kerusakan yang ada.

Jumlah korban tewas sejauh ini adalah 844 orang namun angka korban dari gempa berkekuatan 7,5 magnitudo diperkirakan akan jauh lebih tinggi ketika petugas bantuan bisa mendatangi tempat-tempat yang sejauh ini belum terjangkau.

Palu menjadi salah satu kota yang paling parah menderita kerusakan, dengan beberapa kawasan pemukiman rata dengan tanah.

Fenomena alam yang disebut liquafaksi dimana adanya lumpur yang keluar dari dalam tanah.

Sebuah desa bernama Petobo mengalami fenomena liquafaksi tersebut sehingga kemudian daerah yang sebelumnya persawahan sekarang menjadi padang lumpur.
